The 2016 Grand Traverse Salmon Classic
Main Event & Sweet 16
Registration will take place 6pm – 7pm on Friday September 2nd at the Streeters Center in Traverse City
Captain’s meeting will start promptly at 7pm. Each team is required to have one team member (preferably the captain) attend.
Cost to register is $300 per team for the Main Event, $50 For Big Fish, $125 per team for the Sweet 16. Entry fee includes captain & crew. All online and credit card entries will be subject to a 4% processing fee. Checks should be made out to Fish-TC, LLC
Fishing will take place from 6am til 12:00 Noon on Saturday September 3rd and Sunday September 4th 2016.
All boats are required to have a working marine radio on board at all times. Tournament communications will take place on the official tournament channel (Channel will be announced at the captains meeting)
Official lines in will be called on WTCM 103.5fm & 93.5fm as well as on the tournament marine radio channel.
Boats must disclose which bay they will be fishing prior to 7pm on Friday night. Boats may change bays between Saturday and Sunday with Tournament Director approval!
Boats may leave port on East or West Grand Traverse Bay south of the 45th parallel latitude.
All fishing must end at 12:00:00pm Noon SHARP. All coolers must be in line to be weighed at the Streeters Center before 1:15:00pm SHARP. Late = Disqualified
Coolers are to be hard –sided and free of loose ice and excess water when presented for the weigh-in. Coolers are to contain the teams catch ONLY, No extra fish. Coolers with loose ice or excess water will be penalized with the loss of their smallest fish. Coolers with extra or illegal fish will be penalized with the loss of that fish and one more fish. Foreign substances including ice packed into mouth or body cavity disqualifies team.
Cooler must be tagged with provided numbered cooler tag.
Weighing of fish will begin at approx 1:15pm each day.
Boats are permitted a maximum of 9 Lines in the water at all times, maximum 2 baits per rod, sliders may be no longer than 72”
This is a one angler limit each day tournament, 5 fish weight-in with no more than 2 lake trout as part of your catch, fish for big fish prizes must be part of your 5 fish limit. Only trout & salmon may be included in your catch. All fish are subject to GT Bays size limits, all fish will be measured.
All state and federal fishing laws as designated by the MI D.N.R. are to be followed. All fishing must take place from a moving boat. No shore fishing. Gaffing of fish is not permitted. Boats must be a minimum of 12 feet in length.
All anglers must have a current Michigan fishing license and may be asked to show their license at any time by any tournament official.
Anglers are responsible for their own fish after weigh-in, a local organization may be on hand to take donated fish. Absolutely No cleaning of fish on Streeters Center property!!!
Absolutely no contact with other boats or shore is permitted. Unless approved by tournament director. Disabled boats must return to port under their own power.
Ties in total weight will be broken by heaviest fish, if still tied, prizes will be split. Heaviest fish category ties will be broken by length, if still tied, prize will be split.
To constitute a full and completed tournament, THREE (3) hours of fishing must occur between 6am and 12:00pm Noon. If weather forces stoppage of the tournament an announcement will be made on the radio, fishing must stop immediately, boats must return to port and coolers must be in line for weigh in at the Streeters Center with in 1 hour 15 minutes
If weather is deemed unfishable and the tournament is canceled, a refund will be issued less a percentage to cover unrecoverable tournament expenses. Refund checks will be mailed out no later than Thursday September 8th, 2016.
A weather committee will be appointed at the captain’s meeting.
Observers are not required for this event but may be placed on any boat at the discussion of the tournament director
Protests are to be submitted to the tournament director with a $50 deposit within 5 minutes after the last fish leaves the scale. All decisions of the Tournament Director are FINAL!!
All participants who fish and are eligible for prizes may be required to submit to a polygraph exam. Failure to comply will result in immediate disqualification and forfeiture of any prizes.
Official scoring for aggregate tournament will be 1 point per pound and 10 points per fish.
Final payouts will be are based on the total number of entries and will be posted after at the Saturday weigh-in.
Absolutely No outside alcohol is permitted on the Streeters Center property at any time during this event. Failure to follow this STATE LAW will lead to disqualification of entire team and 1 year ban from ALL Fish-TC,LLC events as well as removal from Streeters Center property.
